Covid Cases

Dear Parents and carers
RE: Covid Control – LFT Testing
We have now had further positive cases of Covid following testing over the weekend and this morning. We are continuing all the cleaning and handwashing protocols.
We ask and strongly urge you to follow the advice below to help prevent a surge in cases. Without testing we will not be able to control the situation and if staff become ill it may result in school closure.
LFT Tests
We are asking for all children who attend school to take two tests throughout this week as we have had a positive case with very mild symptoms.
Please may all children in Class 1 take a test daily as this is where the majority of cases are.
You are able to collect test kits from your local pharmacy or order them online here:
https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests
We are unable to pass out tests from school as these are provided for staff to keep the school open.
Positive LFT
If your child has a positive LFT they must stay home.
We are also asking for all children in a family with a positive test who attend North Stainley School to take LFT tests daily for the next 7 days after the confirmed positive case within your family. With a negative result the children can return to school.
As we are sure you are aware, rules have changed this month and you as family no longer need to isolate. It is only the confirmed COVID case that must stay at home. There is also no need to take a PCR test following a positive LFT.
The positive test counts as day 0.
On day 5 you can retest with an LFT and again on day 6, 24 hours later. If both tests return a negative result then you are able to leave the house and return to school. Please note tests need to be 24 hours apart with 2 negative consecutive results. On day 11 you are able to return to school even if the LFT is positive.
Symptoms
If your child displays any illness symptoms please test with an LFT test.
We thank you once again for your support.
