Admissions
Children are admitted in September of the school year in which they are five. Therefore children whose 5th birthday falls between the 1st September and 31st August will enter school at the beginning of the autumn term of that year.
The children are invited to visit the school for several half-day sessions during the last half of the Summer Term.
Primary School deadline for Reception places in 2026 is January 15th 2026 and places will be allocated on Thursday 16th April 2026.
The children then start in the Reception Class either full time or attending half days until half-term, giving them an opportunity to become settled and ready to start full-time after October half-term.
The school's Admission Policies for 2025/26, 2026/27 and 2027/28 can be found under About Us - Policies.
The Published Admission Number (PAN) for North Stainley school is 8.
The decision to admit out-of-catchment area children will be made at County Hall level in discussion with the Governors and Headteacher.
In-Year Admissions
For admissions outside the normal admissions round (e.g. mid-year transfers), parents should contact the school directly. The same oversubscription will apply if there are more applications than places available.
Appeals
Parents whose applications are unsuccessful have the right to appeal to an independent appeals panel. Details of the appeals process are available from the school or Council.
Application Process
The process for parents and carers to apply for a place can be found on the North Yorkshire website - see link below. Full information about the admission process for 2026-2027 is provided and parents/carers are encouraged to apply on line.
