Today we have been thinking about Remembrance day and the sacrifices that were made by selfless people during the wars in order for us to be here today.

We had a special Collective Worship lead by Reverend. Simon all about 'quiet' and how this coincides with Armistice Day, before we all made our way out to the churchyard to lay a wreath on a war veterans grave and stand for a two minutes silence to ay our respects. The poem 'For the Fallen' was read allowed, and we finished with a prayer and blessings. In school we also had a moment remembering a past Head Teacher of North Stainley School, Albert Edward Illingworth, who died in action one month before the end of World War One serving his country.

When we stood out in the cold, wind and rain, it was truly fitting that we sacrificed 2 minutes in these conditions, and compared this with those who went to war; this their daily reality.

The children have been wonderful preparing for today; from making poppy art in class, to making and selling their own poppy merchandise to raise money for the RBL charity! The money collected for the RBL through poppy sales will be added up and shared with you soon.
