This week has been a wonderfully busy and creative one for Class One. As part of Art Week, children across the school immersed themselves in exploring different artists and techniques before developing their own final pieces. Class 1 focused on watercolour, experimenting with wet‑on‑wet washes, dry‑brush textures, pipettes for splashes of colour, and even salt to see how it transformed the paint. After practising these skills, they planned and produced their own beautiful watercolour artwork.

We also marked Children’s Mental Health Week with a wellbeing walk around the village. It was a lovely chance for everyone to enjoy fresh air, chat with friends, and spend time together in the community. The walk ended at the park, where the children relaxed and played. Alongside this, pupils took part in a whole‑school worship about recognising feelings and learning simple strategies to support their wellbeing. Their thoughtful engagement made the session especially meaningful.

Another highlight of the week was a fantastic First Aid workshop. The children explored the contents of a first aid kit, learned how to call 999 confidently, discussed how to spot potential dangers, and talked about what to do if they ever become lost. They showed great enthusiasm and maturity as they developed these important life skills.

Tuesday brought even more excitement. The day began with a Book Look / Stay and Play session, where children proudly shared their work with their parents, a lovely celebration of their effort and creativity. This was followed by an energetic circus‑skills workshop, with juggling, flower sticks, and plate spinning filling the hall with laughter and concentration.

The fun continued when visitors arrived with an amazing collection of animals, including bunnies, lizards, snakes, guinea pigs, ferrets, hedgehogs, and more. The children were fascinated as they learned about each creature up close.

The day also served as a Pupil Voice Day, giving children the chance to work within their chosen teams to help shape positive change in our school community. This work will continue throughout the year, with more opportunities for pupils to collaborate and lead.

It has been a vibrant, joyful, and enriching week, and we are incredibly proud of how the children embraced every experience.

From all of us in Class 1, we wish you a restful and enjoyable half term. We hope you have a chance to relax, recharge, and spend time doing the things you love. We’re already looking forward to welcoming the children back in a week for another exciting, jam‑packed half term full of learning and new adventures.
