Class One Learning WC/ 22nd April
This week has been packed with such a variety of learning from History to diary writing, oral health in PSHE to learning about plants in Science, internet safety sessions and forest schools in the sun to name just a few of the things we have been up to in Class One!
EYFS have been looking at oral health this week and the importance of cleaning our teeth and oral hygiene. They have been scrubbing and cleaning as well as some role play in the 'dentists'!
We are all continuing with our topic work on Kings and Queens too. Key Stage One looked at some very significant monarchs from the past, and then moved on to look at family trees. We looked at some different family trees before hunting for different family names hidden around the classroom and creating a family tree for Bobby Bear! The children then created their own family trees! EYFS looked at the luxury, expense and grandure of Roal Residencies and designed their own perfect castles, drawing and writing about the different things they would have!
We have two wonderful students that come in and work with us on a Thurday, Miss. Webster and Miss. Webster! This week they took a hand to doing some speed green word fluency cards with grey group and yellow group! Freddie Frog was very impressed! We are working very hard at the moment on our sounds, ensuring we are are ready as can be for the phonics screening, as well as building up our fluency through speedy reading and comprehension tasks.
The children went out on Tuesday afternoon for forest schools with Mrs. Macarthur, Mrs. Gray, Miss. Hall and Miss. Hemmingway! What a wonderful adventure they had finding the perfect sticks for a new creation, and seeing ducks and ducklings, geese and goslings, hedgehogs and having a good look for fish in the pond! They then used a variety of tools to create a charming wind chime tree to decorate Class One's window sill!
The children have a french session with Mrs. Wilson on a Friday afternoon now and they have really been enjoying learning a new language! They also have been using their communication and presentation skills in show and tell.
We did a mini workshop this week too with a man called Tim Pinto. He came in to speak to us all about internet safety and how we should protect ourselves when accessing the internet. The children gave some very interesting answers and learnt a new jingle to remember for when there are online:
The internet is great,
The internet is fun,
But if you feel worried,
You've got to tell someone.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
