Wow what a super week we have had celebrating all things Christmas now it is officially December!
The week started with the arrival of our class elf bringing lots of decorations (and mischief)! The Christmas tree's and classrooms were gleefully decorated by all, who then went on to colour and make their own globe baubles to hang on the tree!
In RE we have been talking about why nativities are performed by Christians and why the Christmas story is important, with the children making a long slow journey to replicate Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem. They then explored the small world area making the streets of Bethlehem and a stable, using stick puppets to re-enact the famous story.
We've had festive brain breaks that the children have all thoroughly enjoyed, from flying in sleighs to being elves in Santa's workshop!
We have read a Christmas story a day, with a new book called 'Old Christmas Magic' being bought in today from Mrs. Jones who had the books signed by the author and donated to school. The children really enjoyed listening to this before getting ready to getting on the bus.... oh no they didn't... oh yes they did...
... we went to the pantomime to see Jack and the Beanstalk at Harrogate Theatre along with the Fountains and Grewelthorpe children! The children had a great time and really engaged with the show- and their ice-creams! It is with big thanks to FONSS who funded the whole trip so the children could enjoy this festive tradition!
