It has been a wonderfully busy and engaging week for our Class One children.
In Maths, the children have been developing their confidence with addition and subtraction within 100. They have shown great determination as they practised new strategies and applied them to increasingly challenging problems.
In English, the class completed their final versions of their narrative stories inspired by Stories from Different Cultures. The children worked thoughtfully to bring their characters and settings to life, and it has been a joy to see their creativity shine.
Our Geography learning took us outdoors this week as we explored weather patterns and compared life in an African village with life here in North Stainley. The children enjoyed a walk around the village, sketching its physical features and proudly sharing the places that make it special with Mrs Sanderson and Mrs Howat. Highlights included visiting the village hall, the community gardens, and finishing our walk at the park. It was a lovely opportunity for the children to connect their learning with the world around them.
In Music, the class continued to enjoy singing and dancing along to our Grandma Rap unit, bringing plenty of energy and enthusiasm to each session.
Finally, in PE, we began learning a new dance, and the children approached it with fantastic focus and excitement.
It has been a delightful week of learning, exploration, and creativity, and we are very proud of everything the children have achieved so far.

Reception have enjoyed a rich and engaging week of learning, filled with exploration, creativity, and plenty of hands‑on experiences.
In Maths, the children have been diving deeper into subitising, building their confidence in recognising quantities instantly. They have explored numbers through practical activities that encouraged curiosity and independent thinking.
This learning has been beautifully enhanced through our provision, where the children have had a wide range of opportunities to deepen their understanding. They have enjoyed matching sounds, matching photos, exploring warm and cold tuff trays, and painting stunning savannah sunsets. The children also created British wildlife artwork, including hedgehogs painted with forks, and explored ice in the tuff tray as part of our focus on colder seasons. They have been discovering the globe and locating different places, supported by songs such as the continent song, the weather song, and Five Little Speckled Frogs. Played with logs and frogs in provision has further supported maths, imaginative learning and storytelling.
In PE, the children have been moving energetically to music as they explored dance, expressing themselves through rhythm and movement.
In Phonics, Reception learned some exciting new digraphs and have been applying these sounds with growing confidence in their early reading and writing.
It has been a joyful week full of discovery, creativity, and meaningful learning for our Reception children.
